Atlas Copco has announced an expansion to its DrillAir line of portable air compressors with the introduction of the X-Air⁺ 800-20. Building upon the design principles established by the X-Air⁺ 750-25, which delivered robust air power in a more compact format, the X-Air⁺ 800-20 offers increased airflow at a practical pressure level within a similarly space-efficient canopy. This configuration facilitates easier transport and logistics while maintaining performance, thereby broadening options for applications such as drilling and blasting.
The X-Air⁺ 800-20 features an emphasis on operational efficiency, delivering an 11% improvement in fuel economy over its predecessor, which contributes to a reduced total cost of ownership across the DrillAir product range. The compressor is optimised for tasks comfortably performed at 20 bar, including foundation drilling, abrasive blasting, and pipeline services. By not exceeding necessary pressure levels, the model minimises energy consumption and mechanical wear, offering a cost-effective solution for users seeking both speed and efficiency without unnecessary specification.
Capable of providing up to 800 cubic feet per minute (1,359 cu.m per hour) of airflow, the X-Air⁺ 800-20 supports enhanced productivity in scenarios where air volume is critical, leading to faster project completion. In line with other models in the series, it utilises a compact canopy that reduces unit footprint and weight compared to previous generations, simplifying handling, transportation, and storage. The unit is powered by a 6.7-liter Cummins engine.
A notable feature, Dynamic Flow Boost, increases airflow during demanding phases such as flushing and drill stem refilling, supporting efficient borewell completion and smoother operations. For enhanced operational management, the X-Air⁺ 800-20 includes the Xc2004 controller, which provides intuitive operation and advanced connectivity. With improved processing capabilities and monitoring functions, the controller assists operators in optimizing efficiency and application control.
According to Srijayan Iyer, Product Marketing Manager for Large Air, the X-Air⁺ 800-20 is designed to meet customer needs by integrating higher airflow capacities with practical pressure, promoting efficiency and productivity across a spectrum of demanding industrial applications.
