Nouveau Monde Graphite (NMG) is advancing phase two of its Matawinie Graphite Mine, a project recognised nationally in Canada. The company has secured major contracts covering over half of capital expenditure (CAPEX), aligning with Canadian mining standards like National Instrument 43-101 to ensure transparency.
NMG emphasises collaboration with local partners and Indigenous communities, expecting to create more than 100 construction jobs and offer training for long-term regional growth. Pomerleau will serve as Construction Manager, overseeing critical infrastructure. The first civil works contract was awarded to Manawan-Fournier, a joint venture between the Atikamekw First Nation of Manawan and L. Fournier & Fils, supporting both infrastructure development and Indigenous business participation. Additional roles go to Beauce Atlas for steel structures and Metso for mineral processing equipment, with further contracts progressing the project.
NMG’s leadership highlights early partner engagement to reduce risks and maintain cost controls, while local representatives praise the project’s employment and skills initiatives. The Phase-2 Matawinie Mine demonstrates NMG’s focus on responsible development, combining economic, environmental, and social priorities for lasting regional benefits.
