Arca and Giga Metals to assess up to 220 Mt CO₂ removal at Turnagain project

Arca Climate Technologies Inc. and Giga Metals Corporation have signed a 10-year agreement granting Arca exclusive access to evaluate and test ultramafic waste rock and tailings at the Turnagain nickel project in British Columbia for carbon dioxide removal. Using Arca’s mineralisation technology, the companies aim to convert atmospheric CO2 into solid minerals, with potential to sequester up to 220 Mt of CO2 over the project’s lifespan. The partnership promotes both critical mineral development and permanent carbon removal, enhancing environmental and economic impacts. Company leaders highlighted the agreement’s role in advancing sustainability and innovation in mining.
