PERTH, AUSTRALIA – Schlam, a leading global provider of high-performance load and haul solutions, has announced a significant expansion of its international operating model. The strategic move includes a major broadening of its product range, the optimization of its global supply chain, and the appointment of a seasoned industry executive to lead its commercial divisions.
The announcement follows the company’s successful integration into the USCO ITR Group in September 2025, a partnership that has catalyzed Schlam’s transition from an Australian specialist to a global market leader in mining attachments and aftermarket parts.
Strategic Leadership: Appointment of Chief Commercial Officer
To steer this international trajectory, Schlam has appointed Phil Sellers as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Commencing his role in July, Mr. Sellers brings a wealth of experience in global market development within the mining and energy sectors. His previous leadership roles include senior positions at TransAlta, Alinta Energy, and most recently, Epiroc/CR Mining.
Based in Australia, Mr. Sellers will take command of Schlam’s global sales divisions and regional market managers, ensuring that the company’s commercial strategies align with the diverse requirements of the international mining landscape.
Product Innovation: Expanding the Barracuda and Hercules Ranges
At the core of the expansion is a comprehensive upgrade to Schlam’s product portfolio. The company is extending its Barracuda range of loading attachments to support all machinery models exceeding 100 tonnes. While historically focused on buckets for backhoes and wheel loaders, the portfolio now includes high-capacity solutions for:
- Face Shovels
- Rope Shovels
- Large-scale Excavators
Furthermore, Schlam is launching a full suite of Ground Engaging Tools (GET) designed specifically for mining buckets, alongside specialized installation kits for both Hercules truck beds and Barracuda buckets.
Operational Excellence and Supply Chain Logistics
To maintain proximity to major global mining hubs, Schlam has solidified a “hub-and-spoke” manufacturing model. By leveraging established production facilities in China and Mexico alongside its primary Australian base, the company has minimized lead times and optimized logistics for tier-1 miners globally.
David Haslett, Schlam Chair and Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that these developments are a direct response to the evolving needs of the global market.
“We are evolving our business to ensure we have the right teams, resources, and technical products in place to meet customer demand in markets that are relatively new to Schlam,” said Mr. Haslett. “This expansion allows us to offer more comprehensive, end-to-end load and haul solutions on a global scale.”
End-to-End Lifecycle Support
A critical component of Schlam’s global strategy is the introduction of tailored installation kits. These kits were designed to solve the logistical complexities of deploying heavy equipment in remote international regions.
“Within each new region, we have appointed sales and technical service representatives and typically partner with a trusted local fabricator for product assembly and service,” Haslett explained. “Providing tailored installation kits was the missing link in the process between manufacturing and operational support. We can now offer a comprehensive, end-to-end solution encompassing maintenance, parts, and refurbishments.”
The collaboration with the USCO ITR Group has further bolstered Schlam’s research and development capabilities. By integrating the Group’s multinational expertise in aftermarket machinery parts, Schlam is delivering increased value and durability to its global client base.
