In its newly released 2025 Sustainability Report, OceanaGold has signaled a significant acceleration in its transition toward low-carbon operations. Key highlights of this transition include:

• Haile & Didipio: Scaled renewable energy certificates from 25% to 100% at Haile and 0% to 100% at Didipio.

• Macraes & Waihi North: Maintained the 100% renewable sourcing that has been in place at these New Zealand sites since 2021.

By securing lower-carbon power sources, OceanaGold ensures that future electrification efforts will result in a genuine net reduction in GHG emissions rather than simply shifting the carbon load to the grid.

Electrification Studies at Macraes and Waihi North

While renewable power is the current driver, the future of OceanaGold depends on fleet electrification. The company is currently conducting deep-dive technical studies at its New Zealand operations to determine when electric fleet components become economically and operationally viable.

Results from this comprehensive study are expected to be finalized in 2026.

Waihi North: Underground Innovation

For the Waihi North Project, the miner is using diesel mechanical equipment as a baseline to measure the benefits of electrification. Right now, the best route for digging stuffunderground seems to be using those diesel-electric loadersOceanaGold continues to monitor battery-electric vehicle (BEV) maturity to see when a full transition becomes feasible.
